Our TVET college curriculum equips young women ages 18–24—who didn’t have the chance to finish school—with training that becomes a pathway to a career, opening doors to financial stability, confidence, and a future they choose.
Two career tracks—sewing/design and computer skills—give students practical, hands-on experience: from sketching and constructing garments to coding, video editing, and data entry. Each new skill prepares them for real jobs in the community and the chance to support themselves.
Africa is home to one of the largest and fastest-growing youth populations in the world, currently representing approximately 22.6% of the global youth population, or 426 million young people. This demographic shift presents both significant opportunities and pressing challenges, particularly in the areas of education, skills development, and employment. [International Labor Organization]
Young women are more likely to never attend school
Gender disparities remain deeply rooted within education systems across many countries in Africa. Data consistently reveal that young women are significantly more likely than young men to have never attended school or to have only completed pre-primary education, severely limiting their access to continued learning and future employment opportunities.
Interestingly, these disparities become less pronounced at higher levels of education, suggesting that once girls enter and remain in the system, their chances of progression improve. However, the primary hurdle lies in initial access and sustained retention—ensuring girls not only enroll in school but are supported to stay and succeed throughout their educational journey. As global reports continue to show that young women face some of the highest barriers to secure, dignified employment, our students are proving what’s possible when opportunity meets determination. Every certificate earned and every skill mastered strengthens not just one girl’s path—but her entire community’s future.
This work is changing trajectories. And with continued support, more young women will step into the workforce with the training, confidence, and agency to build the lives they envision.
Their potential is powerful. Together, we’re helping ensure it’s within reach.
Much gratitude to GOCampaign for investing in women's education and making this relaunch possible.
